Liposuction Done the Right Way

/24-7PressRelease/ - MANHATTAN, NY, June 27, 2008 - Over the past few years, liposuction has become an extremely popular medical procedure. Originally developed in Italy during the 1970s, it is now one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries in the Unites States. Simply, liposuction improves your body's shape by removing any excess fat you may have between your muscle and your skin. The excess fat is removed through the use of a tiny stainless steel tube called a cannula. Connected to a powerful suction pump, the cannula is inserted into the body through small incisions made on the skin by the doctor, and then your excess fat is literally sucked out of the body by the cannula - hence the term lipo-suction. Once the fat is removed and the swelling has gone down (as with any surgical procedure, there is some minor swelling associated with liposuction), your body's shape is greatly enhanced. It is a relatively simply procedure that is performed hundreds of times a day. However, only Dr. Howard Bellin uses a liposuction technique that truly addresses the most challenging aspects of the procedure.

Dr. Bellin's Approach

While relatively easy, liposuction is still a type of surgery. As such, liposuction involves the use of anesthesia. Most doctors use a general anesthesia when performing liposuction; however, general anesthesia puts the patient completely under, and he or she simply lies on the surgical table while the operation is performed. Dr. Bellin believes the use of general anesthesia produces inaccurate liposuction results, and as a result, he uses local anesthesia for his liposuction procedures.

Developed over 15 years ago, Dr. Bellin's local anesthetic approach to liposuction makes you a part of the action. Here is how it works: first, Dr. Bellin administers tranquilizers and then he puts local anesthesia into the parts of the body where the operation will occur. After a half-hour (during which time the local anesthesia becomes fully effective), the procedure begins. He begins removing fat from your body, and because Dr Bellin uses a local anesthetic, you will be asked to stand during the procedure, which gives Dr. Bellin the opportunity to evaluate immediately how the operation is progressing. You will then lie back down on the table and he will continue to remove fat. This process of lying down and then standing up continues until the procedure is completed and you are both pleased with the results.

Benefits to Dr. Bellin's Approach

By using a local anesthetic, Dr Bellin has created a liposuction technique with numerous advantages. Some of those advantages include:

• Reduce chance for waviness, rippling or dimpling of the skin to occur.
• Immediate results - you will see the "final product" at the end of the procedure.
• Very little bleeding and a lesser amount of pain.
• More precise fat removal.
• Doctor/patient interaction - you will be able to comment on what you want done while the procedure is underway.

Liposuction is very popular. Physicians all over the world perform liposuction operations daily. However, if you are thinking of having liposuction, it is in your best interest to discuss the procedure with a doctor who pioneered the technique that produces the best results.
