Clarke Auction Celebrates Tenth Anniversary with Live Traditional Irish Music, Saturday October 11th.

Founded in 1998 in Larchmont by transplanted Dubliners Ronan Clarke and Brian Corcoran, Clarke Auction remains Westchester's Premier Auction and an excellent alternative to Manhattan firms. A Tenth Anniversary is reached by fewer than 30% of small business startups per the U.S. Census.

/24-7PressRelease/ - LARCHMONT, NY, September 18, 2008 - In 1998, two Irishmen from Dublin, one the pioneer of a Bronx antiques district and the other an alumnus of Doyle New York, agreed to join forces in a new auction house.

Ronan Clarke arrived here after years in London in the music and flea businesses, often hard to differenciate, stayed illegally, and eventually benefited from a U.S. immigration amnesty. Brian Corcoran began as a porter for Bonham's in London, then moved to William Doyle in New York with a green card and a role in its furniture department.

Corcoran then met Clarke in his Bronx antiques shops and the rest is history...

As Corcoran and Clarke, soon to be shortened to C and C, the new auction faced challenges, including a Rube Goldbergian postage monster, but steadily gained a loyal following in the greater New York area for an unpretentious, entertaining and competitive alternative to Manhattan auction houses.

Ten years on, some things naturally changed, including the company name. Corcoran started a family, went back to Dublin, and has since returned to New York to help run another business here. He and Ron Clarke remain great friends.

As Clarke Auction, the company has continued to grow and thrive.

Clarke's Fine Art Auctions were launched in 2005 and have been a huge success. The New York Times published a cover story about Clarke in 2007. And with the help of aggressive advertising and the Internet, Clarke has become a global business with clients across the U.S. and from four continents and Australia.

To celebrate this Tenth Anniversary, Clarke Auction is hosting a party Saturday, October 11, at 6:00 pm at its Larchmont location. The Celebration is to overlap with a preview of Clarke Auction's Monday Sale of Old Masters, Antiques, Decorative Arts and Midcentury Modern.

The highlight of the anniversary party will be Traditional Irish Music featuring Mary Courtney of Morning Star and musicians ranging from 30 to 90 years old. Please see http://www.myspace.com/morningstarnyc for more information about Mary and their music..

Founder and owner Ronan Clarke notes that "if you want 'McNamara's Band' and 'When Irish Eyes are Smiling', this isn't for you. But if you want to hear great traditional Irish music... centuries-old classics and songs with fire and soul, then join us."

He adds, "and while here, feel free to preview our great October Auction of Old Masters, Antiques, Decorative Arts, Sterling Silver, Oriental Carpets, and Midcentury Modern Design."

Clarke Auction is located at 20 North Avenue, Larchmont, NY 10538. Its heart is large, but its parking lot is small. Local street parking is available and the auction is an easy 5 minutes walk from Metro North's Larchmont railroad station which is 20 minutes from Manhattan. Its website is www.clarkeny.com
