Barbara Summers Edwards Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Fine Arts

    SMITHFIELD, UT, October 10, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara Summers Edwards, Owner and Artist at Edwards Fine Art, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of fine arts.

With an impressive background that spans 34 years, Ms. Edwards excels in oil and watercolor painting that portrays figurative and still life imageries. She began her career as a freelance illustrator and progressed to fine art painting with the encouragement of her husband, Glen Edwards, who is an artist and a professor of art. She is a recipient of the US Art Magazine Award of Excellence, Award of Merit and the Yellowstone National Park Purchase Award from the International Arts for the Parks Exhibits and Competitions. Her traditional work is regularly included in the prestigious Oil painters of America National Show. Ms. Edwards considers having one of her paintings purchased by The Utah Arts Council for the State of Utah's Permanent Collection; prominently hanging in the Governor's Mansion the highlight of her career and attributes her success to her passion for beauty and excellence and the support and inspiration she receives from her artist husband.

Ms. Edwards received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Utah State University in 1974 and is an associate member of Oil Painters of America. She owns and operates her own business, a painting studio where she and her husband Glen create gallery paintings. She is an active supporter of Traditional Art, often donating paintings to charitable auctions that support worthy causes, i.e., Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Springville Museum of Art, and Habitat for Humanity, to name a few. She also actively supports the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
