Maxi-Aids Introduces i-TELLpod, the Talking iPOD Controller for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Maxi-Aids, the industry-leading supplier of products for independent living, is distributing an innovative product called the i-TELLpod Talking iPod Controller, which enables the Blind and those with Low Vision to use iPods by announcing stored information.

FARMINGDALE, NY, October 16, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elliot Zaretsky, President of Maxi-Aids, the industry-leading supplier of products for independent living, today announced that Maxi-Aids is distributing the i-TELLpod Talking iPod Controller, which enables the Visually Impaired to use iPods. "I am very excited about this product," said Mr. Zaretsky. "It opens up a whole new world of digital music and audio books that hasn't previously been accessible to the Blind and those with Low Vision."

Over the past number of years, iPods have become widely popular because they allow the user to carry a hand-picked selection of their favorite music and audio books, while at the same time offering exceptional sound quality in a lightweight, portable unit. "However, as good as iPods are, they still present a problem for the Visually Impaired," points out Mr. Zaretsky. "They require the user to view song and book titles on a relatively small built-in LCD and to manipulate the dial to navigate and make selections."

The i-TELLpod Talking iPod Controller solves this problem by allowing your iPod to announce stored artists, album titles, song titles and audio books. You just plug it into your iPod and your earphones plug into the i-TELLpod; you then control your iPod through the simple controls on the i-TELLpod. "To put it simply, the i-TELLpod makes your iPod talk," explains Mr. Zaretsky.

The i-TELLpod enables you to choose the voice style, voice speed and the gaps between words. And it's economical to operate: since it is powered by the iPod, it requires no batteries. It is compatible with all generations of the Nano, the classic, the Video and with most iPods which have a docking connector. It's not compatible with the iPod shuffle, the iTouch or either generation of the iPhone. It has a built-in clip to attach to your belt, clothing, purse or briefcase and it measures only 4.5" x 1.5" x 0.5".
