Laser Skin Treatments for Facial Rejuvenation

Now cosmetic surgeons are able to offer better skin treatments, with the use of a laser, that are less invasive and produce faster results.

SARASOTA, FL, October 19, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- There are many skin and color aberrations that used to be incurable or only treatable through the use of complicated surgical methods that left a patient incapacitated for a long period of time. Now cosmetic surgeons are able to offer better skin treatments, with the use of a laser, that are less invasive and produce faster results.

Laser skin procedures, which are sometimes called laser surgery treatments (although they do not involve the use of a scalpel), can correct many problems associated with skin tissue merely using a high intensity laser.

Laser surgery procedures are excellent for treating:

• Facial scarring, especially acne scars
• Age spots and birthmarks
• Unwanted hair
• Spider veins
• Warts
• Unwanted tattoos
• Wrinkles including frown lines and crow's feet

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are certain risks involved with laser skin treatments, but the use of a laser minimizes these risks. In fact, laser surgery is so popular because it is so much safer than traditional cosmetic surgery.

Because laser surgery does not require any incisions, there are no stitches and no bleeding. Additionally, there is very little pain or swelling involved with the procedure. Laser skin treatments do not require the same amount of healing time as traditional procedures, so you will be able to return to your normal activities much more quickly after your procedure.

In order to undergo a laser surgery treatment, you must be a fit, non-smoker (for at least a month before and after your treatment) who has no severe health issues. Additionally, being pregnant or nursing may disqualify you from laser treatment.

Many people who undergo laser surgery will go through multiple treatments over the period of several months in order to get the maximum result from their treatment with the least amount of time healing and the lowest risk of scarring.

The Laser Treatment

Cosmetic surgeons use a high-intensity laser beam to selectively isolate undesirable areas under the skin and alter them. The laser beam is used to constrict blood vessels, isolate damaged areas under the skin, cauterize and vaporize certain objects. The selectivity involved allows the surgeon to only treat very precise areas, leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.

One of the most common laser treatments is laser skin resurfacing. With resurfacing, your cosmetic surgeon can target the upper layers of your skin, peeling away this old surface to expose the younger, unscathed inner layers. Laser skin resurfacing can take years off of your face, giving you a more youthful look without the invasiveness of traditional facial surgery.
