With 31 years of professional experience, Mr. Ornelas excels in communications, advertising and media relations. His day-to-day responsibilities include working with non-profit organizations needing sponsorships, collaborating with other companies to acquire funds and acting as a liaison for the schools on programs regarding alternative energy, wind power and green programs. He also serves as a community liaison coordinating the citywide management of the city's mentor and tutor initiative on a weekly basis with the Austin Independent School District. Mr. Ornelas attributes his success to his determination.

A 2004 recipient of the Hall of Fame in Education Award, Mr. Ornelas received his Master's Degree in Advertising and Design from George Washington University in 1978 and his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Texas A&M University in 1970. He is a library commissioner for the City of Austin and a member of Leadership Austin and Americorps. In his spare time, Mr. Ornelas volunteers for Blue Santa and serves on the Parent Involvement Advisory board for the local school district. He aspires to travel and continue his education.
