ECOcal Brings the Natural World to the iPhone

From the makers of the ECOlogical Calendar. Access the natural world every time you turn on your iPhone with ECOcal, one of the most feature rich mobile applications ever, designed for the environmentalist in all of us.

SAUSALITO, CA, November 07, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Access the natural world every time you turn on your iPhone with ECOcal, one of the most feature rich mobile applications ever, designed for the environmentalist in all of us.

ECOcal presents the year in one continuous, beautiful, fact-filled scroll. With a single touch, the user can reconnect with nature's clock.

ECOcal is an immersive daily calendar of the Earth and sky with extensive scientific information about astronomical and terrestrial events. Instead of a grid-based calendar, ECOcal shows the days running from left to right, with tides, flora and fauna then the sky and stars represented above.

Scroll through the Sky Chart to find out when the next meteor shower will peak or when there is going to be a lunar eclipse.

Zoom in on a constellation to see the magnitude of a star.

Tap on the richly detailed images of animals and plants to read about how they adapt to winter's cold or summer's heat.

The iPhone mobile application builds upon the success of the print version of Chris Hardman's ECOlogical Calendar, which has been hailed as:
"Reinventing the calendar as both an object and an idea" (Utne Reader) and
"As much a work of art as a tool for awareness" (Kevin Kelly's Cool Tools).

Hardman tapped Robosoft Technologies to work closely with him to develop ECOcal. ECOcal will be available at the iPhone App StoreSM, winter 2008, for $9.99.

ECOcal and the ECOlogical Calendar are two of the many ECO branded products from Chris Hardman and Antenna Theater. Since 2003, Hardman has been illustrating and designing the calendar with the team at his non-profit in Sausalito, California. The calendar is available in two print formats, a wall calendar and a daily planner. Its art is featured on greeting cards and its science in a deck of quiz cards.

"ECOtime: Stories from the ECOlogical Calendar" can be heard as part of Living On Earth broadcast on National Public Radio.
