HIGHLAND BEACH, FL, December 23, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Florence A. Keesely, Philanthropist and Founder of Flossy's Dream Foundation, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Philanthropy. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
Ms. Keesely has an unprecedented 50 years of professional experience and specializes in fundraising and charitable works. As the founder of Flossy's Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization, she is tasked with raising funds to assist students to obtain scholarships to pursue a degree in television, radio production or communications at Lynn University. She notes that she became involved in philanthropy while volunteering in hospitals in New Rochelle, New York where she founded 'Hospitality Corners,' now located in hospitals throughout the United States. The support she receives from her husband is the driving force behind her success and she considers having the ability to help others to be the most gratifying aspect of her career.
One of the first ladies of daytime television, Ms. Keesely is the producer of "Alive and Well," a television show geared toward senior citizens living in Florida. Most recently, she commissioned the famous sculptor, Yaacov Heller, to create 'Flossy's Fountain,' which is on display at the 'Pathway to the Stars' entrance to the Count de Hoernle Amphitheatre at the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park. The seven-foot-tall bronze statue, holding a lighted star, plays a rendition of "Stardust," Ms. Keesely's favorite song, every evening.
