Dana Surena-Mattson Named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year and Honored for Excellence in Speech Rehabilitation

NEW CANAAN, CT, February 4, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dana Surena-Mattson, Speech Language Pathologist and Orofacial Myologist, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Speech Rehabilitation. While inclusion in Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named the Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their accomplishments, academic achievements, and service. On December 4, 2008, Ms. Surena-Mattson was recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of speech rehabilitation.

Ms. Surena-Mattson has an impressive background in Speech-Language Pathology. She has 12 years of professional experience, owns a successful private practice where she specializes in Oral-Motor, Orofacial Myology, PROMPT, accent reduction and treating professional voice users with laryngeal pathology. Ms. Surena- Mattson is currently creating a state-of- the- art center for children with disabilities. Recipient of the Advanced Continuing Education Award in 2003, she notes that she became involved in her profession due to a deep desire to give children the gift of speech and eating. She attributes her success to her personal drive for excellence, her love for her profession and her familial support. She considers making a difference in the lives of others to be the most gratifying aspect of her career.

Ms. Surena-Mattson, a New York and Connecticut licensed Speech Pathologist and trained Orofacial Myologist, PROMPT and Hanen clinician, holds a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from New York University [1997]; a Bachelor's Degree in Drama and Anthropology from Franklin and Marshall College [1992] and is a trained classical singer. She is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association [ASHA,] Connecticut Speech and Hearing Association, and the International Association of Orofacial Myology.
