Ms. Pierce has 44 years of professional experience, 21 of which have been in her current position at Jackson Public Library. A specialist in library management, she excels in ordering books, hiring and training new employees and supervising staff. She is responsible for overseeing the automation of cataloging books and periodicals from the Dewey Decimal Classification System to a computerized system. She stays current with the trends in her profession by reading Library Journal.

A member of the Missouri Library Association, Ms. Pierce received her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Oklahoma in 1972 and her Bachelor of Science in English, with a minor in library science in 1965, from Southwest Missouri State College, now Missouri State University.
