New Diet Helps People Break Bad Eating Habits Over Time

Since The Pen and Paper Diet focuses entirely on energy consumption, a person can control their weight by eating unhealthy foods. Later, they can focus on eating more healthy after they have reached a healthy weight.

TUCSON, AZ, March 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Pen and Paper Diet is a personal daily calorie budget using a journal. It takes about 3 minutes a day and doesn't require a person to eat more healthy foods or exercise more. The diet meets people where they are at in their bad eating habits and helps them manage their weight without requiring any other lifestyle change except to track their calories and maintain a calorie budget. Once a person develops the skill of keeping a daily calorie budget, he or she can then focus on eating more healthy and exercising more.

"When my wife and I focused on trying to help each other lose weight a year and half ago, we wanted to keep eating fried chicken sometimes, drink sweet tea and eat chocolate," says Michael Dow, author of the book. "Also, my wife did not have the time, motivation or energy to work out an hour a day. We thought that if a finance budget can help people not spend too much then a calorie budget should help us not eat too much. After a year and a half, we have more energy, are starting to eat more healthy and are starting to exercise more often. The ideas in the diet allow people to take a babystep approach to being more healthy. Maybe one small change at a time is the best way to go for those with bad health habits."
