Woosh Grows Business and Secures Microwave Supply for Its Mature Network

Advantech AMT helps to facilitate microwave network roll-out in New Zealand

/24-7PressRelease/ - UMTS-TDD Forum, AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, November 10, 2005 - Advantech AMT, a manufacturer of satellite and terrestrial wireless communication equipment with corporate headquarters in Montreal, Canada, are pleased to announce an agreement with Woosh Wireless for the supply of Microwave Ethernet solutions through its Allgon Microwave division. Advantech AMT recently re-launched Allgon Microwave following a trade acquisition. Woosh Wireless are presently hosting the global UMTS-TDD alliance summit.

Under the agreement, Woosh Wireless are placing a large frame order to enable their network rollout through to the end of 2006. Woosh, experiencing strong demand for its recently launched VoIP services, is relying on the licensed microwave technology to provide backbone capacity in large parts of its network. With the microwave backhaul, Woosh can control quality while simultaneously reducing network cost. "The extremely low latency, flat throughput and system gain of the AMR StreamlineTM LAN-100 are features that count when we have selected Advantech AMT as our supplier", says Richard Cane, COO Woosh Wireless.

"We have been serving Woosh with true Ethernet solutions right from the start in 2002. It is gratifying for me to see that our quality and system gain, combined with our extremely low latency and flat throughput, are so highly acknowledged by Woosh", says Peter Svensson, Sales Manager for Allgon Microwave. "Our LAN-100 product is doing a perfect job and uniquely fulfils the tough requirements on true Ethernet backhaul for a live UMTS TDD network. Woosh's success means that their network needs to deliver great performance whilst experiencing some of the heaviest traffic conditions in the industry, which is where we really differentiate ourselves in the market."

The Woosh Wireless engineers are happy to back Peter up with their praise of the AMR StreamlineTM LAN-100. "Everything is done the way an IP engineer expects it to be", reports Ahmad Saeed, RandD Manager, Woosh Wireless, "our network engineers simply felt at home with the LAN-100 from Allgon Microwave that outperformed the rest"
