Bushmans Kloof Flips The Switch For Earth Hour on 28 March

Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Retreat in Cederberg, South Africa will 'power down' at 20h30 (SA time), together with over 500 cities in 75 countries that have already signed up to take part in the 60 minute global 'lights out' campaign.

PINELANDS, SOUTH AFRICA, March 26, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Retreat in the Cederberg, South Africa will take a stand against global warming on Saturday March 28, in a show of support for the World Wildlife Fund's (WWF) Earth Hour 2009 global initiative.

Responding to the unified call for action on climate change, Bushmans Kloof will 'power down' at 20h30 (SA time), together with over 500 cities in 75 countries that have already signed up to take part in the 60 minute global 'lights out' campaign.

Guests at this South Africa luxury accommodation will become part of this global effort as they are seated at Embers, an extraordinary open-air dining venue on the reserve, where a candle-lit dinner will be served. At 20h30 all electric lights will be turned off at the lodge and only a blanket of stars in a velvety African night sky will illuminate the surrounding wilderness.
Renowned for its authentic wilderness experience, this luxury ecological oasis is equally recognized as an unequivocal conservation success story. Its entire operation is based on sound environmental conservation practices, and the reserve was awarded the Relais & Chateaux Environment Trophy 2007 in recognition of its exceptional environmental and conservation projects.

Jill Wagner, Sales and Marketing Manager from Bushmans Kloof, says: "Climate change not only poses the gravest threat to the continued survival of every human being on the planet, but also to our planetary wildlife resources. We do believe it is our responsibility to take action, by backing this vital WWF initiative, and are proud to join the platform of support for this global challenge."

Bushmans Kloof bases its entire business ethos on preserving the magnificent natural environment within which it rests, while providing the top end of the tourism market with an exclusive wilderness experience. Here, the ethos extends to a broad environmental plan, designed to forge an ecological footprint that extends well beyond its borders to benefit many generations to come.

About Earth Hour
Earth Hour aims to reach more than 1 billion people in 1000 cities around the world, and is anticipated to be one of the greatest social movements the world has ever witnessed. The purpose of this global effort is to save the earth by inviting communities, businesses and governments to switch off their lights for one hour on 28 March. The awareness raised will enable organizers to demand that world leaders pay attention and take serious action to deal with this threat. Furthermore, the goal is to gather 1 million signatures for a petition which will be handed to the United Nations Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen at the end of 2009. The objective of the Copenhagen meeting is to agree on a new global climate deal to replace the Kyoto Protocol which expires in 2012. www.earthhour.org.za
