Cumberland, VA, April 6, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary O. James, Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at Cumberland County Elementary School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education.

A 22-year veteran in the education field, Ms. James is responsible for developing educational strategies and curriculum for pre-kindergarten students. She makes sure to always have the highest expectations of her students and provides them with the tools to achieve success by offering top-notch instruction. She became involved in her profession because of her desire to make a difference in the lives of children. Ms. James had a vision to create a wide variety of learning opportunities that make subject matter come alive for children who learn in different ways. She notes that teaching is, after all, a profession on which others depend.

The most fulfilling aspect of her profession is seeing the educational advancements in her students by year's end. The most enjoyable aspect of her career is reading with her students and teaching them how to write. Watching them open up and come alive brings her a tremendous amount of joy. Her greatest professional achievement was being nominated into the sixth edition of Who's Who Among American Teachers by a former student in 2000.

Ms. James received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Saint Paul's College and she continues to take classes to enhance her knowledge about children. She is a member of the Virginia Education Association and the National Education Association. Perfectly content in her position, Ms. James plans to continue teaching for the foreseeable future. The motto to which she attributes her success? "Expect the best!"
