Cambridge Who's Who Names Brenda Mattson Professional of the Year in Art and Art Instruction

Brenda Mattson, an accomplished portrait, landscape and floral artist, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in art and art instruction.



    strong> /24-7PressRelease/ - UNIONDALE, NY, August 01, 2007 - Since the age of eight when she received her first painting set, Mattson has been perfecting her talent for creating exquisitely lifelike portraits using oil and pastels. She is recognized worldwide for her portraits of adults and children as well as her striking landscapes and florals. She studied under internationally known instructors and her pastel painting of former President Gerald R. Ford hangs in the Ford Museum's permanent collection. Mattson also has a splendid knack for capturing the soulfulness of pets for client commissions.

Mattson teaches and demonstrates her portrait, landscape and animal painting skills to others on the national and international level. She has worked as an instructor for The Grand Rapids Art Museum, the ]b]International Association of Pastel Societies and the Portrait Society of America convention. In addition, she taught two-week painting workshops in Ireland and acted as a teacher and demonstrator at the Learning Art Expo in Burbank, California.

Mattson is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America,exhibition chairwoman for the International Association of Pastel Societies and a member of the Portrait Society of America. Her work has been featured in many artists' publications including The Pastel Journal, International Pastel Artist, Tole Art Magazine, American Artist, The Artist and Artnews. Galleries that have featured her work include Gallery Uptown in Grand Haven, the Crooked Tree Gallery in Petoskey, the One Trick Pony Gallery in Grand Rapids and the Richeson Gallery in Kimberly, Wisconsin. Mattson, a historian for the Great Lakes Pastel Society, was an award recipient at the West Michigan Regional Competition in 2006.
