Claire Power Murphy Triumphs over Illness to Bring Healing to Others

In an interview with Cambridge Who's Who, the director of The Self-Rejuvenation Center discusses holistic healing and her struggles in a hostile healthcare environment.

NEWBERRY, FL, March 30, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --- "The author's life has been one of research," reads a passage from Claire Power Murphy's award-winning book "Preserved to Serve." Indeed Murphy, an active proponent of a natural lifestyle, has never taught anything that she hasn't learned from personal experience. Plagued by poor health from childhood until her mid-20s, she finally achieved physical and emotional healing by changing her diet and harnessing the powers of nature. Emphasizing ease of circulation through pure and balanced blood chemistry, Murphy went on to heal not only herself but her loved ones. She revels in serving as living, breathing proof of the efficacy of her teachings: "I've not only talked the talk, I've walked the walk."

Inspired by a desire to bring healing into the lives of those who have lost faith in conventional medicine, Murphy established The Self-Rejuvenation Center in 2008. Certified in hydrotherapy, home remedies and grief therapy, she guides clients in making lifestyle changes that will improve emotional and physical wellness. At the core of her teachings is cellular regeneration through the Eight Laws of Health: balanced nutrition, exercise, water, sunshine, temperance, air, rest, and trust in God. "SRC is here to help people who want to learn to help themselves," explains Murphy. "It will be a beacon for people searching for health answers beyond what currently exists."

Though she has enjoyed considerable success in introducing a new way of looking at healthcare, Murphy has also faced opposition on both professional and personal fronts. With characteristic bullheadedness, she fought the courts for custody of her daughter, who was treated for cerebral palsy, winning her case after four months and going on to cure her daughter of her symptoms. Convinced more than ever of the potency of an all-natural lifestyle, she continued to wage battles with members of the medical establishment and the legal profession in order to share what she learned with others, and maintains that she won every single one of these fights "by sticking to what I know works."

Murphy's battles are chronicled in semi-autobiographical "Preserved to Serve." Detailing her journey from sickly child to fruitarian author and inspired originally by the nightmare of being misdiagnosed with dementia, it is geared towards people who suffer from chronic health problems and/or have been incorrectly diagnosed and informed that they do not have much time left to live. It has since become a valuable guide to the attainment of self-rejuvenation and the restoration of body, mind and spirit. In 2008, "Preserved to Serve" won the Female Autobiography of the Year Award and was a finalist in the "Religion: Christian Inspiration" category of the National Best Books Awards.

A veteran of the NYC public school system, Murphy brings to her advocacies the grit and patience of a born teacher. In her fruitful 34-year career in education, she was best noted for developing a program entitled, "Expanding Horizons," which she introduced to her advanced learner third-grade class. The program was soon shared with all third-grade teachers on Staten Island and at both the NYC Greater Metropolitan Social Studies Conference and The Middle Atlantic States Social Studies Conference. "Expanding Horizons" won a monetary grant from the American Cancer Society.

Murphy holds a master's degree in elementary education from Hunter College and a bachelor's degree in history, with minors in elementary education and psychology. She earned certification in advanced administration from Richmond College, and is a distinguished member of the Chairman's Circle of the Oxford Club and the Sovereign Society. Additional affiliations include the Greater Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the American Federation of Teachers, the United Federation of Teachers, the National Association of Professional Women, the American Association of Retired Persons, and Seed Savers Exchange.

Most recently, Murphy was chosen as Cambridge Who's Who 2009 "Professional of the Year in Health & Wellness" and is featured in "Cambridge Publishing's 101 Top Industry Experts," a publication that presents interviews from some of today's top industry executives and professionals. Looking to the future, she plans to publish two more books: "Preserved to Serve Part II: Healthful Solutions" and "Preserved to Serve Part III: Testimonies." Building on the tenets of the original "Preserved to Serve," these will also promote the virtues of living by the laws of nature, which will facilitate consistent improvements in individuals' health and wellness. Says Murphy, "It will be very great when [people are] improving every single year of their lives!"
