Keta Foundation Granted Key Non-Profit Status

New North Carolina Non-Profit to Support Strategic Development Projects in Ghana

CAPE CARTERET, NC, July 30, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Keta Foundation is proud to announce that it is now officially a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Contributions donated to the Keta Foundation are fully tax-deductible retroactive to the founding of the organization. The Keta Foundation is also now eligible to apply for government and foundation grants, which will further broaden its access to resources and strengthen its ability to serve its mission.

"Obtaining 501(c)(3) status is a major milestone for the Keta Foundation," remarked Executive Director and Founder Gavin P. Smith. "This is a major achievement that validates our strategy of utilizing a multi-disciplinary project approach to lift communities and empower them to become sustainable deterrents to modern slavery."

The Keta Foundation will be at the vanguard of the war against the factors that allow slavery to flourish - in Africa and elsewhere: poverty, disease, ignorance and lack of opportunity. Our primary objective is to offer an opportunity to earn a decent standard of living and to provide hope for the future to the youth, women and men of Ghana. The Keta Foundation, through partnership with existing Ghana nonprofit Freedom University Keta and local development firm Norris Hill & Partners, has already secured permission from the Keta Municipal Assembly, His Majesty Togbi Sri III (King of the Anlo-Ewe people), the Chiefs and private owners to pursue a variety of projects that not only improve the lives of those in the region, but also protect the historical assets and natural charm to position Keta as a desirable unique and meaningful learning, business, residential and tourist destination.

"This opens many doors for us to expand fundraising activities and fully realize our goals as a charitable organization facilitating a variety of educational, health, housing, environmental, communications and infrastructure projects desperately needed not only in Ghana but greater Africa. In doing so, we will create a new generation of Ghanaians equipped to pursue new dreams for their families, elevate their communities, and contribute the seminal change needed to combat modern forms of slavery in our world."

The Keta Foundation Tax Identification Number (EIN) is 47-4440382. The IRS letter granting Keta Foundation its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is available upon request. For donation inquiries, contact funding[at]KetaFoundation.org.
