Sometimes trauma can lead to other mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and behavioral acting out.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specific form of therapeutic treatment that has proven to be especially effective with troubled teens. EMDR is one of the few therapeutic techniques that have been demonstrated through evidence-based research to be effective. EMDR is based on a simple technique that gets both the left and right sides of the brain working while the student recalls the traumatic experience.
