A MILLION DOLLAR INHERITANCE CAN BE A BLESSING... AND A DEADLY CURSE

An aspiring poet must navigate through a web of lies, secrets and revenge before she loses everything

/24-7PressRelease/ - CHICAGO, IL, February 25, 2008 - Most people dream about inheriting millions of dollars. But when the dream becomes a reality for aspiring African American poet Geneva Anderson, she quickly realizes that an inheritance can be both a blessing and a deadly curse. Set against the backdrop of a university campus in Chicago where cultural exchange, scholarship and the arts are celebrated, THE POETRY OF MURDER (Oak Tree Press, February 2008), a new murder mystery by Bernadette Steele, takes readers through a labyrinth of revenge, deceit, and blackmail.

After Geneva's aunt, Victoria Franklin, the director of the International House of Chicago, is murdered, her life becomes unraveled by a mysterious inheritance and a murder charge. To clear her name, Geneva takes matters into her own hands and begins to investigate her aunt's murder. Her investigation leads her to the revelation that her beloved aunt led a secret life and that the list of suspects even includes her academically accomplished neighbors.

"Murder mysteries are not about murder but rather they are brain stimulating puzzles about people who commit desperate acts," says Bernadette Steele.

Since 2004, the author has lived in the International House at the University of Chicago. The multicultural environment and gothic architecture of I-House and the University campus inspired her to write THE POETRY OF MURDER.
