LRS Plumbing Celebrates 20 Years and the Launch of The LR Foundation with Host and NewsOne Now Anchor, Roland S. Martin

The LR Foundation Aims to Introduce South LA's Underserved Youth to "Un-Traditional" Paths to Success

The LR Foundation aims to expose young people to successful careers in untraditional areas like culinary arts, barbering, cosmetology, or construction trades," says Leonard Redway.

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 05, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Saturday, April 29th LR Services Plumbing and founder, Leonard Redway, will celebrate their 20th Anniversary and mark the launch of the company's philanthropic arm, The LR Foundation. The gala will be hosted by the incomparable NewsOne Now anchor, Roland S. Martin and take place at City Club Los Angeles with cocktails at 6 pm and dinner at 7:15 pm.

Fourth-generation plumber, Leonard Redway founded LR Services Plumbing straight out of high school, with the vision of building a successful family business known not only for superior service to its clients but for the respect it garnered in the Los Angeles community for its unyielding commitment to providing superior plumbing services. Redway's ambition seemed a literal "pipe dream" which, when measured by the traditional paths most students are encouraged to follow, was also a figurative "pipe dream." Yet, enlisting the help of his brothers Owen and Andrew, he created a successful business that serves the community and spearheaded philanthropic projects.

Over two decades, as the LRS business expanded, so did the Redway Brothers' service to humanity. From their 'Season of Giving' home remodels, support of Jenesse Center, and youth mentoring throughout Greater Los Angeles, to spearheading special projects to help rebuild neighborhoods after natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, Leonard, Owen, and Andrew have indeed changed the way we view plumbers. In many ways, "Changing the Way You View Plumbers" was as much a personal edict as it was a professional motto. The past 20 years also changed the way these plumbers view themselves.

For so long we have been taught, "you go to school and get good grades so you can get into a good college and get a good job. Unfortunately, that narrative is no guarantee and students are often left with large amounts of debt. At The LR Foundation, we aim to seek to expose young people to successful careers in other areas like culinary arts, barbering, cosmetology, or construction trades such as equipment operators, Elevator Mechanics, Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC just to name a few," says Leonard Redway.

Beginning this year, Leonard will use his time, experience and resources to build a "pipeline to success;" shifting his focus to the newly launched LR Foundation, while his brothers focus on the operation and management of LR Services Plumbing. The Foundation aims to focus on highlighting "un-traditional" paths to success for underrepresented and underserved youths, all the while re-shaping communities by showing them that traditional paths are not the only way to success. Redway hopes his model will serve as a catalyst to change the way young people view their own futures; he is living proof that a trade is a treasure and traditional paths aren't the only routes to success.

The elegant evening will be hosted by Master of Ceremonies, Roland Martin. Martin is the host and managing editor of TV One's NewsOne Now, the first daily morning news program in history to focus on news and analysis of politics, entertainment, sports, and culture from an explicitly African American perspective as well as senior analyst for the Tom Joyner Morning Show, where his daily segment is heard on more than 100 stations by 8 million people. The night will celebrate 20 years of LRS and the launch of the LR Foundation and feature fine dining, signature cocktails, live music by DW3, dancing and the comedic stylings of Screw Roy Rice.

The gala will also present an opportunity for clients, colleagues, and community members to honor the work provided by LRS for over two decades as it expands its business and heralds in a new era of philanthropic focus.

Founded in 2017 by Leonard Redway, a 4th generation plumber, and owner of LR Services Plumbing, The LR Foundation was born from a simple yet powerful idea: Have the audacity to change the way people view plumbers through service to humanity. The Foundation is devoted to encouraging community empowerment and youth development through their "Season of Giving" campaign, spearheading special projects to help rebuild neighborhoods after natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, providing career education, training, and skills workshops, providing grants and scholarship resources, and on-the-job shadowing programs. The LR Foundation will focus on highlighting "un-traditional" paths to success for underrepresented and underserved youths, all the while re-shaping communities by showing them that traditional paths are not the only routes to success. After twenty years of humanitarian work, these plumbers have changed the way they view themselves and aim to show young kids that they can do it too.
