LANDOVER, MD, November 19, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The 13th Man has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Support our programs and leaders of tomorrow by visiting our website www.the13thman.org.
#GivingTuesday is held annually during the holiday giving season to inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Our goal for #GIVINGTUESDAY is to raise money for our 13th Man programs and events including 1.) General Academic Tutorial, 2.) SAT/ACT/PSAT Prep, 3.) Guy Talk Sessions, 4.) A host of other programs and activities. In addition, these donations will help our signature Leadership Development Camp, the Summer Classics. The Summer Classics is a FREE 4-day camp that will host over 100 young males between 12-17 years old. The winning combination? Leadership lessons and team activities. It is through these programs and mentorship that we can help elevate the lives of young men through empowerment, development and leadership engagements.
Here's what our participants had to say about their experience with the 13th Man:
"What I have learned through the 13th man is responsibility, humility, trust, leadership, and respect. All these things that I have learned in the 13th Man are things that I will never forget, nor let go of. The experiences that I received at the 13th Man have been engraved on my heart and mind." – Dylan Palanga
"One of the greatest lessons from the 13th Man that I've learned is to never settle for what you have. Now that I have applied the lessons that I have learned through the 13th Man, I find myself striving to be better than I ever was before." – Alexander Rucker
"The most meaningful experience I've had with the 13th Man was it helped me connect with like-minded people and those from different backgrounds. It was also the first time being in a camp where I spent valuable time with black males which added a different ambiance compared to regular programs." – Chase Albritton

About The 13th Man
Established in 2014, The 13th Man is a nonprofit leadership development organization that transforms young men from average to outstanding. Our vision is that every young man across the nation will develop himself to engage, act, and lead as confident community change makers. We make progress toward this vision through our mission to elevate the lives of young men through empowerment, development, and leadership engagements. The 13th Man is a sports metaphor for somebody who almost makes the team but does not. This play on words is the inspiration for the creation of The 13th Man, a place where no young man is left off "the team" because he was "almost" good enough.
"I have based my career journey on three simple questions: Why me? Why now? Why not?! Everyone deserves a chance to play! Everyone has something to offer. But not everyone knows how to get in the game. This is the goal of The 13th Man."
– E. Davon Kelly, Founder
The 13th Man has chapters in Landover, MD and Charlotte, NC.

#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organiza- tions, businesses and communities in all 50 states and in countries around the world. This year, #GivingTuesday falls on December 1. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that they mean even more when we give together.
