Mr. Perkins has held several leading roles in the industry, including Vice President at Bear Stearns (1988-1994), Senior Vice President and Director at Alex Brown and Sons (1994-2001), Managing Director at Deutsche Bank (2001-2006) and at UBS (2006-2020) where he served as the Senior Vice President of Wealth Management and Senior Portfolio Manager. In 2013, Mr. Perkins notably contributed his expertise in an article in Chicago Agent magazine, titled "A Historical Perspective on the Current Real Cost of Mortgage Debt" and today writes extensively on an array of investment topics for his firm's web site.
Aside from his full-time commitments in the wealth management sector, in 2016 Mr. Perkins actively participated in the transition of PlayAbility Toys LLC to a specialized toy company focusing on an underserved market. Inspired to become involved with the company due to his friend's autistic son, Mr. Perkins joined the board of directors in 2017 and serves on the compensation committee. Today, PlayAbility Toys LLC specializes in designing, manufacturing, and selling toys for children and adolescents with special needs as well as toys and crib mobiles that are designed with the input of Child Life Specialists.
In 2021 Mr. Perkins became a Founding Board Member for a non profit based in Orlando, Florida. Recovery Connections of Central Florida serves central Florida residents by helping those seeking recovery find access to resources and support.
Born in New York, Mr. Perkins moved to Chicago as a child and attended the Latin School of Chicago where he graduated in 1980. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in history at the University of Michigan in 1984. Well-qualified in his field, he holds a Series 63 and Series 65 license and is a licensed investment advisor representative and securities agent. He and his firm use these licenses to serve their clients as fiduciaries.
