A distinguished sociologist and entrepreneur, Dr. Donnelly has made significant contributions to the fields of sociology and business through her innovative research and leadership methods. As the founder of Abbey Research, established in 2016, she has dedicated herself to conducting thorough research with groups of people and focusing on how they work together in order to achieve organizational cohesion. Her work involves tailoring client presentations to address specific needs, fostering interactive discussions and maintaining relationships with potential clients. Additionally, she has automated processes to streamline outreach and engagement, enhancing the efficiency of her organization.
In addition to her role at Abbey Research, Dr. Donnelly co-founded the Community Research Institute in 2020 and has served as the chief operations officer at Abbey Color Incorporated since 2014. She began her journey in the working world while still in higher education, gaining vital international experience as a sociology tutor at Queen's University Belfast in Northern Ireland from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, she was a graduate assistant at Baylor University from 2010 to 2011 and a social work consultant for UrbanPromise from 2009 to 2011, which laid a strong foundation for her expertise in helping people understand themselves and communicate effectively in global contexts.
Dr. Donnelly's academic achievements have played an equally pivotal role in her consulting and entrepreneurial success. She earned a PhD in Sociology from Queen's University Belfast in 2015, a Master of Divinity in cross-cultural religious anthropology from Baylor's Truett Seminary in 2011 — graduating magna cum laude — and a Master of Social Work in international community planning from Baylor University in 2009. Her education has provided her with a deep understanding of human behavior and motivations, which she applies in her research and professional endeavors. To expand her influence further, she became a certified public speaker through The Big Talk Academy in 2021.
Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Dr. Donnelly has served as a volunteer coordinator and founding board member for The Campus Kitchens Project at Baylor University and as a social work intern for UrbanPromise, which strives to empower under-resourced young people with leadership, academic, and life skills in order for them to thrive. Dr. Donnelly also currently serves on the boards of UrbanPromise International, UrbanPromise UK, and the Baptist Joint Commission for Religious Liberty. She is also associated with World Central Kitchen and Partners in Health. Her steadfast commitment to social causes is further reflected in her membership with industry-related organizations such as the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Association for the Study of Religion, Forbes Business Council and the National Association of Social Workers.
Also an accomplished writer, Dr. Donnelly co-authored the acclaimed 2023 book "The Culture of Burnout: Why Your Exhaustion Is Not Your Fault," which explores the root causes of societal pressures contributing to personal burnout. Her four Technology, Entertainment, Design (TEDx) Talks have further solidified her reputation as an influential speaker who addresses complex topics with clarity and empathy.
On a personal level, Dr. Donnelly enjoys attending sporting events, creative writing and crocheting. She harbors aspirations of visiting every baseball stadium and hockey arena while continuing to push the boundaries of research and writing.
