FISHKILL, NY, August 01, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rakhee Gupte, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A distinguished figure in the field of breast cancer research and drug development, Dr. Gupte has dedicated more than 25 years to advancing scientific understanding and treatment options for this pervasive disease. As the chief executive officer of Raadysan Biotech Inc. — a widely renowned and award-winning clinical stage biotechnology facility — she has been pivotal in pioneering innovative approaches to combat triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a particularly aggressive form of the disease. Since 2012, her leadership at Raadysan Biotech has been marked by her relentless pursuit of novel molecular targets and the development of small-molecule therapies and diagnostics.
Her inspiration for founding Raadysan Biotech stems from the loss of a few of her family members who succumbed to different types of cancers, specifically breast cancer. These experiences enabled her to appreciate the shortcomings of the currently available treatments and strengthened her resolve to develop innovative therapies for the treatment of breast cancer. Determined to stay at the forefront of TNBC research, Dr. Gupte develops hypotheses from the effectiveness of drugs that have succeeded as well as those that have failed and the reasons they did so. Another key part of her leadership role involves reaching out to investors and philanthropists, connecting with breast cancer advocacy groups, showcasing the company portfolio at international fundraising conferences and overseeing all day-to-day operations. Though her career counts several scientific milestones, she notably presented her unique perspective on a novel molecular target and its role in breast cancer, which led to the breakthrough discoveries for future diagnoses and treatment of all types of TNBCs.
Dr. Gupte's impressive career trajectory includes serving as an assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of South Alabama from 2008 to 2013, during which she concentrated on breast cancer and myocyte regeneration research. Additionally, she held the position of visiting scientist in the Department of Pharmacology at New York Medical College. Her work has resulted in five United States patents, one PCT, and numerous publications, including more than 40 cumulative peer-reviewed articles and abstracts, underscoring her vital contributions to scientific literature.
Beyond her endeavors in advancing cancer treatment, Dr. Gupte is actively involved with life science organizations such as NewYorkBIO and Women in Bio, reflecting her dedication to fostering collaboration within the scientific community. Also committed to empowering more women within her field as well as community service, she is a member of the Women's Leadership Alliance, the Female Founder Alliance and fundraising efforts for the American Red Cross and various animal shelters.
Before venturing onto her vocational path, Dr. Gupte earned a Bachelor of Science in 1991 from Jai Hind College, India, and a Master of Science in 1993 from the Royal Institute of Science, India, both in microbiology and immunology. Upon relocating to the United States, she furthered her education with a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry and molecular biology in 2003, focusing on breast cancer research at New York Medical College. While continuing her postdoctoral fellowship there, she successfully identified a nuclear transporter for a core DNA replication protein, leading to the explication of new signaling pathways that regulate the release of the DNA replication protein, in a cell cycle dependent manner within the nucleus of the breast cancer cells. As a research associate in the Department of Physiology at New York Medical, she identified a new isoform for a housekeeping gene and elucidated its pathogenic role in pulmonary hypertension.
In recognition of Dr. Gupte's visionary leadership and breast cancer research breakthroughs, Raadysan Biotech was awarded the Most Visionary Woman-Owned Biotech Company accolade by Global Health & Pharma News in 2024. She is a co-investigator on two National Institute of Health grants supporting her groundbreaking initiatives in cardiovascular research.
Happily married for 29 years and a devoted mother of one son, Dr. Gupte is passionate about writing poetry and reading, pursuits that provide her with creative outlets outside of her scientific work. Driven by a vision to integrate diagnostics with therapeutics, she aims to establish herself as a leader in cancer therapeutics and diagnostics, ensuring that every woman has access to effective treatments that allow them to live life to its fullest potential despite the challenges posed by cancer.
