As a Navy Corpsman, he led and trained a team of 46 corpsmen in surgical specialties, clinical procedures, and equipment management. His exceptional service during the USS Cole incident earned him a letter of accommodation, recognizing his skill, leadership, and dedication under extraordinary pressure. He also played a vital role in implementing refractive surgery programs for active-duty personnel, ensuring service members had access to life-changing vision care.

After transitioning to the civilian side, James was mentored by two of the most respected ophthalmologists in the nation—an experience that shaped his approach to patient care and surgical excellence. Their guidance, paired with his military discipline, deepened his commitment to delivering the highest standard of vision care to every patient, regardless of their circumstances.

Over the next two decades, James held key clinical and training roles with STAAR Surgical, Alcon, Luneau Technology US, and other industry leaders. He trained surgeons and surgical teams on advanced procedures, from EVO ICL implantation to femtosecond laser cataract surgery, while optimizing clinical workflows and analyzing outcomes to ensure consistently excellent results. His humanitarian work with the Haiti Eye Mission further reinforced his belief that no one should be denied the gift of sight due to financial limitations.

Mr. Walker is currently involved in his next adventure, Evolve Eye Center. This is an innovative venture posed to revolutionize the elective space within eye-care.
