In his role since 2024, he is responsible for a comprehensive range of duties that include communicating with school principals, coordinating with Dallas Independent School District staff such as contract managers and safety directors, and visiting schools to engage with staff and gather feedback.

Mr. Mitchell's responsibilities include managing school construction projects from inception to their closing stages, dividing responsibilities among project managers, facilitating initial design phases and conducting pre-development meetings with city officials. He implements renovations, additions and upgrades for various schools while attending meetings, maintaining clear correspondence and assessing the unique needs of each school and project.

Prior to joining Turner & Townsend Heery, Mr. Mitchell was a development project manager at The Dimension Group from 2022 to 2024. During this period, he honed his skills in overseeing development projects and risk management, collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring the successful execution of initiatives throughout Texas and Arizona.

Across nearly five years with the civil engineering and construction firm Kleinfelder, Mr. Mitchell served as an associate project manager and environmental sampling professional. In these roles, he gained valuable experience in business development, data analysis and stakeholder collaboration while managing significant portions of a multimillion-dollar project in the oil and gas sector. Also contributing to successful proposals for school districts, he solidified his expertise in this sector and realized his passion for supporting educational environments through effective project management.

In 2015, Mr. Mitchell held the position of engineering intern at the Office of the County Engineer in Harris County. This early experience provided him with foundational knowledge in public infrastructure projects and local government operations.

A significant milestone in Mr. Mitchell's career was his decision to pursue a Master of Business Administration at Western Governors University, which he successfully completed in 2021 while navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially viewing this step as impulsive, he later recognized it as pivotal for his professional growth. The program equipped him with essential project management skills that facilitated his advancement in the field. Furthermore, his acceptance as a Western Governors University Alumni Ambassador stands as a testament to his commitment to leadership within his alma mater's community.

Mr. Mitchell's academic background also includes a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering with a minor in business from Rice University, where he graduated in 2016. The recipient of a full athletic scholarship for football, he initially pursued mechanical engineering before pivoting to civil engineering with an environmental focus due to his interest in water remediation and treatment.

Determined to make an impact outside the classroom as well, Mr. Mitchell began his professional journey as an undergraduate research assistant in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University from 2013 to 2014. Also an accomplished student-athlete, he played tight end for the school's varsity football team for four seasons before transitioning to defensive end during his final redshirt year.

Along with his education, Mr. Mitchell attributes much of his success to the early foundation built through sports under the guidance of Coach Jerald Sams, who instilled in him the values of self-motivation and diligence. Continuing his dedication to professional development and networking, Mr. Mitchell is actively involved in industry organizations including Texas Young Professionals of Dallas and the Association of Rice University Black Alumni.

Additionally, Mr. Mitchell is immensely grateful to his parents Renae and Oscar for providing a supportive upbringing that allowed him to focus on academia and athletics, which culminated in his graduation among the top 10% of his high school class and a full athletic scholarship. He now seeks to create similar opportunities for his own two children by prioritizing their education and extracurricular activities while managing family responsibilities alongside his wife Megan, whose encouragement has been pivotal in his personal growth.

Beyond his career accomplishments, Mr. Mitchell is known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen. He has volunteered with the North Texas Food Bank since 2019, contributing to efforts that address food insecurity in the region. He also served as a mentor for the Sunshine Kids Foundation for four years, supporting children receiving cancer treatments in hospitals.

In addition to spending time with his family, exploring parks and trails and running, Mr. Mitchell enjoys watching streaming content on Twitch as well as technical and educational videos online.
