Mr. Ditzel began his career at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in 2003 as an emergency paramedic, providing patient-centered care and performing complex emergency procedures in high-pressure situations. In 2007, he was promoted to critical care paramedic, coordinating interfacility transfers and managing critical care patients across neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations. From 2014 to 2017, Mr. Ditzel served as an EMS supervisor within Emergency Management and Special Operations, leading an interdisciplinary team in developing and implementing emergency preparedness programs, policies and operational plans across the hospital system.
In addition to his current role at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Mr. Ditzel has served as a contract instructor at the Center for Domestic Preparedness under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security since 2018. In this role, he provides training in emergency preparedness to professionals nationwide, sharing his expertise and mentoring participants to strengthen capabilities across a range of domestic preparedness areas. Concurrently, since 2004, Mr. Ditzel has served as medical team leader for the New York Road Runners through CrowdRx and Global Medical Response, providing medical oversight at major public events.
Mr. Ditzel's professional experience includes his tenure as a paramedic at Englewood Health from 2019 to 2021. Previously, he served as a paramedic at Maimonides Medical Center from 2005 to 2008, and held positions at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2007 and at Saint Vincent's Midtown Hospital from 2004 to 2007, demonstrating a consistent commitment to patient care and emergency medical services.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Ditzel provided advanced life support services at Northwell Lenox Hill Hospital from 2001 to 2004, as well as at Regional Medical Transport and Valley Health System from 2000 to 2001. His foundational experience in health care began with roles as a business associate from 1999 to 2000 and as a patient care technician from 1996 to 1999 at Valley Health System, establishing the clinical and operational expertise that underpins his distinguished career.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Ditzel was the owner and instructor at Rule Nine Enterprises LLC from 2013 to 2017. Based in New Jersey, he provided specialized training in CPR for healthcare professionals and the public through the American Heart Association, as well as CBRNE awareness courses in alignment with FEMA and Center for Domestic Preparedness guidelines.
Mr. Ditzel's academic achievements have been central to his career. He earned the designation of Master Continuity Practitioner in Business Continuity from the National Disaster and Emergency Management University in collaboration with FEMA in 2025 and completed the Master Exercise Practitioner Program in Exercise Facilitation and Design with FEMA under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2020. Mr. Ditzel also attended the National Emergency Management Academy at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute in 2021 and trained as a paramedic at St. Vincent's Institute of Emergency Care in 2000.
Mr. Ditzel's extensive certifications further underscore his expertise.
