Before her academic tenure, Prof. Scholder built a formidable career in local television news, working at all three network-owned stations in Los Angeles. As an executive producer and producer from 1991 to 2006, she produced major broadcasts and managed coverage of high-profile events. Her work during this time contributed to local stations' ability to deliver timely and impactful news to millions of viewers.

From 1996 to 2002, Prof. Scholder served as executive producer at NBCUniversal Media LLC. In this role, she led teams covering some of the most significant stories of the era, including natural disasters such as earthquakes and wildfires, as well as landmark trials. Notably, she played a key role in producing coverage during the events of September 11, 2001. Prof. Scholder regards her involvement in these major stories, where her leadership ensured accurate and comprehensive reporting, as among her most notable achievements.

Her expertise in television news, video production, reporting and storytelling is widely recognized. Prof. Scholder's academic background has been foundational to her success. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and french from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. This combination of analytical skills and cross-cultural understanding has informed her approach to both reporting and teaching.
