Ms. Thompson, an accomplished expert in pastry and culinary arts, has established a distinguished career marked by innovation, leadership and dedication to her craft.

Since 2024, she has served as a brand manager and United States ambassador for Studio F+B Advisors in Modena, Italy. In this capacity, she has played a pivotal role in representing the organization's interests and expanding its influence within the international culinary community.

Ms. Thompson is also co-founder and Director of Sales Marketing at Boo and Henry's BBQ®, a position she has held since 2019. Her entrepreneurial vision has been instrumental in shaping the brand's identity and market presence. From 2018 to 2020, she was head of business development at Etera Foods LLC in Los Angeles, California, where she led strategic initiatives to drive growth and foster partnerships.

Overlapping with these roles, Ms. Thompson directed Traveling American Chefs for six years, overseeing programs that promoted American cuisine on a global scale. Her consultancy work includes serving as a pastry consultant for The District by Hannah An from 2014 to 2015, where she contributed to menu innovation and dessert program development. Her international experience extends to her tenure as exclusive wine agent for LaBastide in Toulouse, France, for one year.

From 2012 to 2016 Ms. Thompson was a chef instructor at The Art Institute of California at Argosy University in San Bernardino, California, where she educated aspiring chefs in advanced pastry techniques and culinary management. She also fostered a culture of creativity and professionalism and was recognized with the American Culinary Federation Professional Development Grant in 2015 for her commitment to professional growth.

In 2012, Ms. Thompson held the role of marketing manager at All USA Online, and the previous year, served as marketing consultant for farmers market management at Los Angeles Mission College within the Los Angeles Community College District in Sylmar, California. She has also worked in marketing consulting through Liz Thompson Marketing and has contributed to recipe development, restaurant consulting and cookbook writing since 2006.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Thompson co-owned The Pig, a Memphis-style barbecue restaurant from 1999 to 2006. She was responsible for business operations and menu creation that celebrated authentic Southern flavors. Her foundational experiences include roles at Victor Hodds Restaurant, Checkers Hotel in Los Angeles, Chiquita Brands and Ideal Toys.

Ms. Thompson's academic background is equally impressive. She earned a Master of Business Administration in business management marketing and related support services from the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University in 1987 after completing a Master of Business Administration in marketing and finance from the same institution in 1984. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from Emory University, awarded in 1981. She has also earned several certifications, such as bons and chocolate confections from The Pastry School with Stephan Treand and restaurant culinary and catering management from International Culinary Center.

Throughout her career, Ms. Thompson has been an active member of the Food Consultants Group, engaging with peers to advance industry standards and share best practices. Civic engagement is also central to her values, as she volunteers with Sierra Community House. Outside her professional pursuits, Ms. Thompson enjoys baking, swimming, traveling and spending time with her family.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Thompson attributes her achievements to the unwavering support of her parents—particularly her father—whose encouragement instilled confidence and resilience in her during her formative years. Despite early challenges, including partial vision loss and societal expectations regarding women's careers in baking, she persevered with determination inspired by her upbringing.

Ms. Thompson's introduction to baking began around age eleven, when she chose kitchen experimentation over other activities while watching Liberace on television. Although initially discouraged from pursuing baking professionally due to prevailing gender norms, she followed her passion throughout college before ultimately selecting business school over other fields such as law or medicine—a decision that shaped her future trajectory.

After earning advanced degrees and working successfully in consumer packaged goods management, Ms. Thompson made a decisive shift by leaving corporate life to pursue catering full-time from her New York City apartment before enrolling in cooking school six months later. In the upcoming years, she aims to build a food community centered on learning, teaching and sharing information, while also seeking to influence perceptions surrounding mental health across the country. She emphasizes that everyone has choices to make that influence their lives, including the choice of happiness.
