TRUMANN, AR, March 26, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amy L. Morgan, NRP, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Morgan has distinguished herself as an expert in emergency care, building a career marked by dedication, innovation and service to her community. In 2020, she made history with the West Memphis Fire Department as the first female single-role paramedic in the department's history. This milestone underscores her commitment to breaking barriers and advancing opportunities for women in emergency medical services.
Currently, Ms. Morgan serves as a paramedic with Emergency Medical Services of Arkansas in Forrest City. She begins each day by meticulously inspecting her ambulance and ensuring all equipment and supplies are operational. Her responsibilities include preparing for emergency 911 responses, scheduled interfacility transports and responding to a broad spectrum of medical incidents ranging from minor injuries to major trauma events and multi-patient emergencies. She coordinates emergent patient transfers between hospitals, including those requiring specialized care at stroke centers or cardiac catheterization laboratories. Ms. Morgan has provided prehospital care during large-scale emergencies such as tornadoes, shootings and other mass-casualty incidents.
Her unwavering commitment is evident in her willingness to maintain extended operational readiness, often working up to 96 consecutive hours to ensure county ambulance coverage during staffing shortages. She completes detailed patient care reports and documentation to support medical decision-making, legal compliance and potential court proceedings. Under physician-directed protocols established by a medical director, she administers medications. She performs advanced procedures, including intravenous placement, nasogastric tube insertion, rapid sequence intubation, chest decompression and emergency surgical airway interventions.
Ms. Morgan is also dedicated to continuous professional development, participating in ongoing skills training and clinical education to maintain proficiency in advanced emergency medical services procedures. As a field training officer, she mentors and evaluates new emergency medical technicians and paramedics in real-world clinical environments. Additionally, she serves as a paramedic instructor and clinical coordinator for the emergency medical technician and paramedic program at UA-EACC in Forrest City, where she prepares future professionals for the field's demands. She supports local operations by working ambulance shifts on alternating weekends and providing additional coverage when needed. Emphasizing patient-centered care, Ms. Morgan trains her colleagues to treat every patient with the same diligence and compassion they would extend to their own family members.
Since 2015, Ms. Morgan has worked as an emergency medical technician with Emerson Ambulance Service and, since 2013, as an emergency room technician at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. Her early career included 16 years as an extradition agent for a private company certified by the Tennessee Department of Law Enforcement, during which she transported inmates across the United States.
Throughout her 15-year tenure as a paramedic, Ms. Morgan has remained actively involved in her profession by driving ambulances and working on a pro re nata basis for both Pafford Emergency Medical Services, serving Cross County, Crittenden County, Lee County, and Mississippi County, and EMSA Emergency Medical Services in Forrest City.
Ms. Morgan's most notable achievement is her unwavering dedication as a paramedic, providing highly trained care to individuals in medical distress. Her expertise is especially evident during critical emergencies such as cardiac arrest; after successfully resuscitating patients and ensuring their safe arrival at the hospital, she often communicates with family members to provide reassurance about their loved one's condition. The gratitude expressed by these families is deeply meaningful to Ms. Morgan, particularly when children are involved, a testament to the profound impact of her work.
Her professional affiliations include membership in Phi Theta Kappa and the National Honor Society.
Ms. Morgan's educational background has been instrumental in shaping her career trajectory. She earned an Associate of Applied Science with an emphasis in nursing and paramedicine from Black River Technical College in Pocahontas in 2013. Her academic journey began with coursework at Arkansas State University, leading to her paramedic certification in 2010. She holds national registered paramedic certification, as well as credentials as a cardiopulmonary resuscitation instructor, an advanced cardiovascular life support instructor and a basic life support instructor. Ms. Morgan is currently pursuing an instructor license to expand her teaching capabilities further.
The influence of family has played a significant role in Ms. Morgan's path toward emergency medical services; growing up in a family of medical professionals initially left her feeling out of place, until a pivotal experience during her time as an extradition agent changed her perspective. When faced with an inmate experiencing severe chest pain who later went into cardiac arrest during transport, Ms. Morgan drew upon knowledge gained from her family to administer aspirin and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation—actions that ultimately saved his life, according to attending physicians. This event inspired her transition into emergency medical services; she sought guidance from relatives who owned an ambulance company before enrolling in an emergency medical technician program while gaining hands-on experience as an emergency room technician at NEA Baptist Hospital.
Beyond her professional commitments, Ms. Morgan is civically engaged as a volunteer instructor for advanced cardiovascular life support, basic life support and first aid courses. She also volunteers as a coach for basketball and baseball teams.
Born in Jonesboro, Ms. Morgan enjoys spending time with her adopted son, Cason, whom she welcomed into her home shortly after his ninth birthday, following a challenging background. Through her dedication and support, Cason progressed academically from kindergarten to third-grade reading level, with expectations of advancing further by year's end; he is also active in sports, including baseball and basketball, under Ms. Morgan's coaching.
Looking ahead, Ms. Morgan plans to earn her bachelor's degree and become the program director for the paramedic and emergency medical technician program at UA-EACC—a leadership position never before held by a woman—demonstrating her determination to advance within this traditionally male-dominated field.
Ms. Morgan credits much of her success to the mentorship of her spouse, Britt Morgan, a seasoned paramedic with nearly 30 years of experience who has provided invaluable guidance throughout Ms. Morgan's career development.
Through perseverance, expertise and compassion, Ms. Morgan continues to set new standards within emergency medical services while inspiring future generations of professionals through both practice and instruction.
