Mr. Gerber's expertise in strategic planning to define go-to-market strategies across multiple product categories, product messaging, positioning, pricing and packaging is widely recognized.
Employed by Adobe since 2010, Mr. Gerber previously served as vice president of document cloud product marketing from 2020 to 2024. During this period, he was instrumental in transforming Adobe's subscription business by shifting focus from perpetual software sales to a subscription model. Leveraging the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, he leveraged in product services at affordable entry price points, a strategy that led to explosive growth. Under Mr. Gerber's guidance, revenue increased from $2 million to over $100 million within three years. By the time he transitioned roles, annual recurring revenue had grown from $500 million to $5.5 billion, and the business now exceeds $7 billion in annual recurring revenue.
Between 2017 and 2020, Mr. Gerber excelled as a senior director of document cloud product marketing at Adobe, following his role as the director of Acrobat product marketing, starting in 2013, and as a group product marketing manager for document services, beginning in 2010.
Notably, Mr. Gerber led efforts to establish the freemium model at Adobe. This initiative transformed Adobe's revenue trajectory, which grew from $2 million to $9 million before skyrocketing to $100 million annually from a single product line. The success of this model inspired similar approaches across multiple products within Adobe and became a cornerstone for other offerings throughout the organization.
