BRUSH PRAIRIE, WA, May 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Monty St. John has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. St John has established a distinguished career spanning more than three decades, marked by leadership, innovation and a commitment to service in both the public and private sectors. Since 2026, he has served as the chief executive officer of NorthTools, LLC, where he leverages his expertise in investigations and cyber intelligence to deliver advanced solutions to clients. His decision to found this organization stemmed from a desire to address persistent gaps in the intelligence sector—particularly in cyber intelligence, research and investigative services—that he identified during his earlier professional experiences.
From 2022 to 2025, Mr. St John served as senior director at Apollo Information Systems, overseeing strategic initiatives and contributing to the development of robust cybersecurity frameworks. Prior to this, he held concurrent roles as principal threat researcher at Mayo Clinic in Austin, Texas, from 2015 to 2022, and as director of cyber research services at CyberDefenses, Inc., in Round Rock, Texas, from 2017 to 2022. In these capacities, he led teams focused on threat analysis and digital forensics, advancing the organization's ability to identify and mitigate complex cyber threats.
Between 2015 and 2017, Mr. St John was an associate with ATX Forensics LLC in Austin, Texas, where he applied his investigative acumen to digital forensic cases. He previously served as a senior threat researcher at General Dynamics Fidelis Cybersecurity Solutions in Austin from 2013 to 2015, contributing to the company's efforts in combating sophisticated cyber adversaries. In 2013, he worked as a digital forensics reverse engineer with TEKsystems in Austin.
Earlier in his career, Mr. St John demonstrated entrepreneurial initiative as a game designer and writer, and as the owner of Emperor's Choice Games & Miniatures from 2000 to 2014. His technical foundation was further established through his roles as a software developer at DynCorp International from 1996 to 1997 and as an assistant instructor at West Martial Arts Academy during the same period.
Mr. St John's military service is a cornerstone of his professional journey. He served as the quality assurance chief at the United States Air Force Defense Computer Forensic Laboratory in Linthicum, Maryland, from 2006 to 2013. From 2002 to 2006, he was a platform engineer and computer software systems architect with the United States Air Force. His earlier tenure with the United States Navy included roles as an investigative and forensic analyst and a software developer from 1993 to 2002 and a cryptologist from 1990 to 1993.
Among his most notable achievements are his humanitarian efforts during the 1990s, when he traveled overseas to recover remains from Vietnam-era conflict sites. Mr. St John located the final resting places of fallen soldiers—whether lost due to aerial crashes or ground incidents—and determined their fates. He provided closure for families by enabling proper burials for their loved ones. He takes particular pride in these missions alongside his ongoing cold case investigations that help families resolve questions about loved ones lost decades ago.
Mr. St John's outreach extends beyond his professional obligations. He volunteers on cold case investigations each year, offering charitable support to those facing unresolved tragedies dating back to 1971. While not directly affiliated with law enforcement agencies involved in these cases, he maintains positive relationships with many departments. He evaluates several dozen cases annually to determine where meaningful assistance can be provided. Additionally, as a veteran, he participates annually in teams dedicated to cleaning and maintaining local veteran cemeteries—ensuring dignified care for those who have served.
His commitment to civic engagement is further reflected through his roles as coordinator for Minecraft Spelunkers with the Austin Home School Co-op since 2014 and coordinator for Austin Misadventure since 2013.
Mr. St John's academic background has been instrumental in shaping his expertise. He earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Grantham University in 2010, an Associate of Science in information technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 2007, and an Associate of Arts in Southeast Asian studies from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in 1992. These credentials have underpinned his success across diverse roles requiring analytical rigor and cross-disciplinary knowledge.
He has held certification as a digital forensic examiner from the Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy since 2006, a testament to his technical proficiency in digital investigations.
Throughout his career, Mr. St John has been recognized for excellence, receiving honors such as the Order of the Sword from both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force.
He is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and the Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce.
A hallmark of Mr. St John's approach is an enduring curiosity that drives him to question assumptions, explore new perspectives and pursue continuous learning, qualities that have enabled him to make significant contributions within his field.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. St John values education deeply and has integrated educational initiatives into nearly every organization with which he has been involved. When companies lacked formal educational divisions, he established them—recognizing that addressing workforce shortages requires more than technological solutions alone. He mentors interns and young professionals both within his own company and through connections with other organizations, helping them build strong foundations early in their careers.
On a personal level, Mr. St John enjoys making games—a creative pursuit that complements his analytical work—and is dedicated to fostering educational opportunities for future generations within his industry.
Mr. St John has been married to Josephine since 1992 and is the father of one daughter.
