Sleep apnea is known to cause increases in blood pressure and a six-fold increased risk of heart attacks and strokes. This study shows that sleep apnea and especially low oxygen saturation may be a risk factor for sudden cardiac death. CPAP and oral appliance therapy can lower increased risks.
